No Money? No Problem?

The benefits of having a meal plan, from a fellow broke college student.
Nobody really understands the phrase "broke college student" until junior year, around midterms, when you're eating packets of ramen for two meals a day with a banana for breakfast. I’m definitely not speaking from experience. But it’s junior year, you’re 19-20 years old, you have a kitchen. You don’t need a meal plan anymore! Right?
Let’s look at some of the benefits:
- It’s a prepaid guarantee for your next meal
When things get tight (like the three days before your check drops), having to worry about buying and cooking food for yourself on top of the stress of classes is the worst. If you are on a meal plan, all you have to do is stop by Southside!
- It saves you money!
Meal plan money acts like a debit card, the difference is that it saves you money with each purchase. Purchases made with your meal plan are tax free! That’s 6% saved each time! For the freedom plan, you save two dollars every time you dine at Southside, Ike’s, and the Globe. Meal plan amounts are also customizable, with different price levels available to fit any schedule.
- Saves time!
No more having to pack your lunch every morning if you have a meal plan! Meal plans are also great for grabbing a snack on the go for the busy student.
Being a student is hard, and it’s the little things that can make our lives so much easier. After a long day of classes and working, it’s easier to just grab something on the way back to the dorm or apartment or stop by Southside and save money while doing so.
