Meal Plan Options
The options are endless when it comes to meal plans! Enjoy three different dining halls which serve delicious meals on a rotating menu. Plans are available for on and off-campus students, faculty, and staff, and are administered by the Mason Card office.

- Independence Plans**: Unlimited access to dining halls and one swipe per hour in Simply-to-Go. Great for students living on-campus without a full kitchen.
- Liberty Plans**: Weekly number of dining hall swipes. Great for students living on-campus without a full kitchen.
- Patriot Plans**: Purchase a fixed number of meals to be used at dining halls. Great for students living on campus with a full kitchen or any off-campus students
- Freedom Plans**: Dollar-for-dollar purchasing power in most locations on all three campuses. Great for students living on campus with a full kitchen or any off-campus students.
- Byte Plans: Purchase a fixed number of meals to be used at dining halls. These plans are exclusively for faculty and staff.
Note: All meal plans are for personal use only. Bonus funds can be used for guests (family/friend). Independence plan holders are provided with three guest meals per semester. Freedom/Bonus Funds and Patriot Plan balance will rollover into Spring semester as a courtesy but they become non-refundable at the end of Spring Semester.These rates are subject to change per approval of Board of Visitors.
Fall 2022 & Spring 2023 Meal Plan Prices
Freshmen and sophomores living on campus without a full kitchen in their living space are required to select an Independence Plan. All other students living on campus without a full kitchen in their living space are required to have either an Independence or Liberty Plan.
INDEPENDENCE MEAL PLAN
This plan offers healthy options and unlimited access to the dining halls. Enjoy three guest meals per semester and Bonus Funds. These plans can be accessed using your Mason ID or the IRIS Camera System. This plan is required for freshmen and sophomores living on campus.

Liberty Plan includes a designated amount of meal swipes per week to be used at all dining halls, plus a fixed amount of Bonus Funds that can be used at most dining venues. These two components together determine the total semester price.

- 14 Meal Swipes Per Week
- Base: $2,080 + Bonus $575 = $2,655
Bonus Funds:
Bonus Funds offer dollar-for-dollar, tax-exempt purchasing power in most dining venues. Remaining balances from the fall semester will roll over to the spring semester. Roll over Bonus Funds are non-refundable. Bonus Funds must be used by the end of the spring semester.*

Students living on campus with a full kitchen in their residence (Liberty Square, Northern Neck, Potomac Heights, Rogers, Townhouses) are not required to purchase a meal plan, however, students still have the option to choose from all four meal plans offered.

These plans are targeted for students on the go who can budget the funds throughout the 16-week semester. Freedom Plans offer dollar-for-dollar tax-exempt purchasing power in most dining venues. Students will receive a $2.00 discount off the door price at each of the three dining halls. The funds are available approximately one week prior to the first day of class and active throughout the entire semester. Remaining balances will roll over from fall to spring. All funds must be used by the end of the spring semester.*

These meal plans come with a fixed number of meals to be used at dining halls, plus Bonus funds which can be used in most dining venues. Remaining meal plan swipes and Bonus Funds will roll over from the fall to the spring semester.*

Bonus Funds:
Bonus Funds offer dollar-for-dollar, tax-exempt purchasing power in most dining venues. The funds can be increased by upgrading to the next $100 increment. Remaining balances from the fall semester will roll over to the spring semester. Bonus Funds must be used by the end of the spring semester. Bonus $100 is the default selection and will be assigned if no amount is specified. Bonus options: $100 $200 $350 $500.*

Freedom Plans and Patriot Plans are perfect for students living off campus. These meal plans are billed to the student account and offer tax-exempt dining. Off-campus students are also welcome to purchase either an Independence or Liberty Plan.
